This spring 2nd & 3rd graders have been learning to play golf in P.E. On Tuesday June 2nd,will be going to Cedar Knoll Country Club for a day of golf. #RESVT #CESUVT

This spring 2nd and 3rd graders have been learning how to golf in P.E.  The focus of the unit has been on teaching proper grip, proper stance, and how to properly perform the 4 basic swings in golf (Drive, Pitch, Chip, and Putt)

Golfing is a lifetime sport that allows scholars to develop a variety of physical and mental skills.  For our golfing unit we used special clubs developed by the First Tee Program, which is part of the PGA's youth outreach program.

Before we began golfing we practiced our ABC safety cues, which are essential in keeping the game safe for everyone.  On Tuesday June 2nd we will be going to Cedar Knoll Country Club to practice our golf skills on a real golf course.

Big thank you to Marie Ayer, who teaches at RES and also owns Cedar Knoll, for inviting us to for a day of golf.

Mr. G
