EQ of The Week

This week we are going to spend a little time reviewing some of the nutrition concepts that we have covered so far this school year.

Essential Questions of the week March, 17 2014

1. What are the five food groups?

The five food groups are Proteins, Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, and Dairy.  You should try and eat the rainbow and get as much color and variety in your diet as possible.

2. How does each of the food groups help your body?

Proteins- Are Grow foods and help you build strong muscles, skin, and hair. Proteins help build new blood cells and helps repair muscles and other body tissues.

Grains- Are Go foods.  Grains give your body energy.  Whole grains are full of fiber and help you digest foods properly.  Other benefits include  keeping your body healthy by fighting diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

Fruits & Vegetables- Are Glow foods and are full of vitamins and minerals to build strong skin, shiny hair, sparkling eyes, and digest foods.

Dairy- Is also a Grow food and has lots of protein and calcium to build strong muscles, strong bones, and strong teeth.
