RES Snow Motion Volunteers

January 4, 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Winter is upon us and it’s with great excitement that I’d like to inform you that our 4th graders are about to pilot a ski/snowboard program during the school day at Cochran's Ski Area called, “RES Snow Motion Program at Cochran's”.  Mr. G’s Gymboree was such a great success that we were able to raise enough money to allow every 4th grader to ski/snowboard for free. We appreciate your support and that of all our volunteers that evening.

We are now looking for volunteers from all grade levels to help out with the Snow Motion Program at Cochran's. You don’t need to have a child in 4th grade to volunteer. The program will begin Friday, January 17th and will run every other Friday for three sessions on January 17th, January 31st, and February 14th, with a make up day on February 21st, from 11:45-1:45.

Scholars will leave RES via school bus.  We need volunteers to ensure that this is a positive and safe experience for everyone involved.  Our 4th grade scholars have a wide range of ability levels.  For some this will be their first experience skiing/snowboarding.  Others will be able to navigate independently down the mountain.  No experience skiing/snowboarding is necessary to volunteer and you won’t need to put on a pair of skis if you're uncomfortable doing so.  Words of encouragement, a helping hand up, and a warm smile will be all that will be asked of you.  However if you're a skier/snowboarder and want to enjoy a Friday with us, we’d love to have you join us on the slopes.

RES Snow Motion Program at Cochran’s is separate from the after-school ski program at Cochran’s on Tuesdays.  This is PE on the slopes!  Our hope is that all of our scholars will be introduced to the fun opportunities for fitness on skis and snowboards in the future through RES Snow Motion and feel encouraged to pursue sports at whatever levels they choose.

If you have questions or are interested in being part of the 2013-2014 RES Snow Motion Program at Cochran's, please contact Mr. G at Brian.Godfrey@cesuvt.org or leave a voicemail message at 434-2461.

Sincerely,

Brian Godfrey
